The team are delighted to welcome a great friend of the festival, the forever brilliant Jack Cookson.
He’s a Plymouth-based guitarist, singer-songwriter, music producer and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominee. He brings virtuosity, wit and warmth to his live shows with stunning covers and his own breathtaking songs.
Until fairly recently, Radio 2 Folk Award Nominee Jack Cookson’s approach to songwriting had been dry, visceral and equally as cynical, but after a couple of years of (un)quiet reflection away from music, learning a trade for a little more stability during the pandemic, he is writing with more optimism. After all, nobody wants another bloke with an acoustic guitar singing about his very relative crisis.
Cookson’s songs cover the clear and present issues of male mental health stigma, disconnection from the natural world and subsequent obsession with tech. Accompanied with near-virtuosic fingerstyle guitar, a unique voice that is easy-on-the-ears plus the odd bit of harmonica, a set from Jack is one you’ll never forget.
